Hundreds of activists have been encamped building tree houses in the woods for more than a year, protesting a planned motorway extension through the Dannenröder forest (northeast Frankfurt).‘Danni’ has become a symbol for what is being destroyed by insisting on expanding an old, obsolete transport system that is driving us full speed ahead into the climate crisis. It is also a symbol of an alternative living in the nature, far from the models of modern society and without hierarchies.
