Flashback to 2020, Aung San Suu Kyi’s National League for Democracy (NLD) won a sweeping majority in Myanmar’s 2nd general election, bringing hope to all Burmese around the world. In Malaysia, the number of Burmese refugees totaled to some 100,000. Their hopes were dashed with the military coup in January 2021. These portraits are the hope of the ordinary Burmese people in Malaysia.
