The water conflict around lake Turkana

Due to climate change in the last few decades the Turkana region, in northwest Kenya, has experienced more frequent and prolonged droughts that have reduced the pasture resources for livestock, encouraging those closest to Lake Turkana to turn to fishing as an alternative livelihood. The Turkana is a county extremely poor: communication, roads, social services, are almost non-existent, leaving those living around this area physically isolated. The proliferation of illegal arms has contributed to the escalation of conflict from different ethnic groups that compete for access to natural resource
