The Head of Oncology at the Hospital of Piacenza Dr. Luigi Cavanna,assisted patients with Covid-19 in the same way that he would treat a patient with cancer.
Country doctor is a piece of reportage that shows the courage, lucidity, resilience and humanity of a doctor who entered the homes of his patients without fear.Dr Cavanna was the first doctor in the world to attempt this treatment during the first wave of Covid-19. He took care of more than 365 patients and saved all of their lives. In July 2020, he was nominated for the Nobel Prize as representative of the Italian Health Corps.
Gabriele Micalizzi is an Italian photojournalist, he collaborates with national and international newspapers. He is one of the founders of the Italian collective Cesura, with the photographer Alex Majoli. In 2011 he began to reporting all the events related to the "Arab Spring". Since 2016 he is testimonial of Leica and is the first winner of the European photographic talent, Master of Photography. In 2019, during the Kurdish offensive in the Baghuz area against the last bastion of Isis, he was wounded by an RPG rocket. In 2020 it followed the pandemic in the most affected areas of Italy.
