Women in black

The ancient Procession of Desolata is one of the most important and moving rites of Holy Week in Canosa di Puglia. A procession consisting of various elements: the children dressed as little angels, each of whom carries in his hands one of the symbols of the Passion of Christ, the statue of the Desolate Virgin and the suggestive choir made up of over 300 women with their faces completely covered and dressed in black, who, singing the Stabat Mater by Jacopone da Todi, express all their torment and pain.

Domenico Iannantuono is an Italian photographer based in Puglia.
A whole series of interests such as art, music and travel converge in his photography.
Particularly sensitive to issues related to the world of work and human rights, fascinated by religious anthropology and socio-cultural changes.
He makes reportage the most important point of his work.
