The Hintersee is a very popular photo spot in Bavaria, Germany which is highly frequented at any time.
These New Years Morning was special: When I arrived, the lake was calm, shrouded in snow and fog. I was alone, only the lake, the rocks and me and I could grab the silence. I wanted to show the speciality, magic and intimacy of this place which it has to offer, if it isn’t overrun by tourism.
To do justice to this, I wanted to portray the rocks and so I climbed into the lake and fought my way through the ice. All photos are taken from the water and suddenly the sun came through ....
