Sumo is a Japanese style of wrestling and Japan's national sport. Many rituals such as the symbolic purification of the ring with salt, are still followed today. In line with tradition, only men are allowed to practice the sport professionally in Japan. Blood, sweat, and tears are poured into this sport over years of strict training but the sumo is never allowed to show emotion. In my series of photos, I wanted to show the power and passion of the sport as well as the traditional aspects.
