THE REFUGE- The Squatters
A derelict housing complex in downtown Athens has been transformed into a living hub for more than 500 people from 30 different nationalities, in what is probably the largest residential squat in Europe. Homeless, refugees, ex-addicts, ex-convicts and political activists have created an unlikely community where all issues are resolved in solidarity - from hijacking electricity from the urban grid to resolving incidents of family violence. Women - displaced girls, mothers and young activists - come in the forefront of the storytelling as they fight together to restart their lives.
