A scared shopper, carrying a brand-name shopping bag and wearing high heels and red dress, runs across bloodstains on the floor of the New Town Plaza shopping mall after protesters clashed with riot police in the Sha Tin rally on July 14, 2019, in Hong Kong, China. Few protesters clean up debris such as broken umbrellas, lost shoes after the clash. Hong Kong is approaching a political crossroads after over a half year of widespread protests over a proposed extradition bill, which raises more fundamental questions about its relationship with mainland China.
