Inspired by Atelier Aveus’s furniture collection emoting visual codes for waiting, this series follows a young woman displaced in a waiting room in the midst of travel. In this room, she is alone and begins to feel the mania of “contemplation, passivity and the distortion of time.” Our lighting + set were designed to emphasize the tension between patience and impatience, calm and frenzy. Here, the wait serves as a metaphor for the paradox of poise occurring in feminism, where woman is trapped in dichotomy between prim and primitive, grace and freedom, a bird in her own cage. ‬
