Betta splendens

The Siamese fighting fish, Betta splendens, are native to Thailand
where their breeding began more than 600 years ago. Their name
comes from their aggressive nature making it impossible for two
males to cohabit. This bellicose character is exploited in its
country of origin, where fights are organized for gambling
purposes.
