Meet Ritu, an acid attack survivor from Sheroes Hangout, Agra. She has been an advocate for India’s Stop Acid Attacks campaign for the last few years. She loves playing volleyball. One day one her way to practice, she was attacked with acid just to settle some scores with her family on a property matter. Ritu was not only disfigured, but lost her eyesight, and had to discontinue her education. That was when campaigners of the Stop Acid Attacks movement got in touch with her and motivated her to continue treatment, regain her self-confidence and become independent as its not her fault at all. She works in Agra's Sheroes Hangout cafe. Ritu smiles and proudly says “nothing seems impossible now!”.
