I first visited the Camargue two years ago and was instantly struck
by the beauty, agility and strength of the Camargue horses.
Greatly inspired, I have since returned many times to get to know
this ancient breed better and to photograph them for this
portfolio. They are incredibly hard working with great speed and
stamina and capable of enduring extreme weather. However,
spending such memorable time with them and their guardians
exposed another side to these formidable creatures — they are
intelligent, curious, loving, caring and so very gentle.
I want this study of work to expose these qualities and I hope my
images share with the viewer the emotion I felt behind the camera
photographing these special intimate moments.
