The People in large parts of the Sahel are already impacted by climate change. One
consequence is increased dust storms and moving sand. This Moving Sand series is captured
in the central Mauritania where people have had to leave villages and towns as sand has
taken over the areas and inundated their houses. The moving sand has become part of the
daily struggle as well as a central part in the daily joy. For example, children use the
dunes for play including acrobatic exercises and adults take walks and pray in the sand.
