Centuries before guns, man teamed up with birds in a peculiar and precarious partnership
which has survived in the hands of only a dedicated few in the UK. I was lucky enough to
be out with Roy Lupton who gave up a career as a stockbroker in the City to give himself
over to a life dedicated to breed, train and hunt with falcons, hawks and eagles. We took
two female golden eagles each with a wingspan of 9ft deep into a remote part of the
Cairngorms. To watch these incredible birds in their natural environment hunt their
natural prey was something that I will never forget.
