Bronze in Press/War
Members of the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) (four from the

march during displacement for a mission in Kachin State, Burma,
17 January 2015.
KIA operate in collaboration with FBR through the Kachin State in
Burma in order to protect them and avoid contact with the Burma
Army during missions to deliver humanitarian relief to internally
displaced people (IDP’s) and reporting human rights violations.
The Kachin Independence Army (KIA) was funded by the Kachin
Independence Organization (KIO) in response to a military coup in
Burma in the early 1961.
KIA initially fought for independence, but changed to seek
autonomy within a federal union of Burma.
