At each end of the beach were sheer cliffs that would refract the
swell causing crossed over peaks. The swell seemed to line up
directly into this small crevice in the southern cliff and plumes of
spray would catapult out at varying angles. Shooting from down
the beach trying to capture some of these abstract formations I
didn't even notice Renan (pictured) in the shot until afterwards.
There a sense of juxtaposition to be taken from the shot; It could
be seen as a salute to the power and randomness of the ocean, or
it could be seen as a mocking attempt at some kind of
manipulated sorcery, showing man’s unending quest to control
nature.

A consuming passion for the ocean lead to his formative years being spent travelling between remote natural areas and densely populated environments, affording him an empathetic insight into the interconnectedness of the world we inhabit.
With an ambition to illustrate grand ideas on an intimate and relatable scale, he explores the interaction of man and nature in a physical, sociological and evolutionary context.
He currently spreads his time between his fine art practice and commercial photography/creative direction in the action sports, travel, landscape and fashion industries.
