GREECE MIGRANT FRUIT PICKERS

Illegal migrant strawberry pickers from Bangladesh, forced to live
in makeshift tents made of bamboos and nylons without electricity
or running water, use candles to get some light in Manolada,
Greece, on 27 October 2014. At the height of the harvesting
season, between October and July, an estimated 6,000 migrants
are employed as strawberry pickers, living in structures made of
cardboard boxes, nylon and bamboo, without electricity or
running water. Last year, Greek farm guards shot at illegal migrant
strawberry pickers, wounding 35.
