Waving Light

  • Prize
    Bronze in Advertising/Architecture
  • Photographer
    Julia Anna Gospodarou, Greece

“The substance of painting is light.” Andre Derain said. Paraphrasing
Derain, we can say that the substance of photographing, of a
photograph is light. This is what I intend with this series, to make a
study of light of one of the most fascinating structures of Athens,
Greece - The Agora designed by Santiago Calatrava. The intention
was to "draw" with light on a basis I capture with my camera from the
outside world, thus creating a new reality: the reality I see in my mind
when I look at this structure and its environment. I call this process
(en)Visionography and (www.envisionography.com) and I aim through
it to move from the traditional sense of photography towards an art
where I rely more on my vision than on the outside world to interpret
reality and recreate it in my images.

She is the creator of the term (en)Visionography™ that defines fine art digital photography, a genre that has to do more with the vision of the artist than with the subject or how the camera captures it. This theory reflects in her personal creative and processing method, Photography Drawing (PhtD™), method based on how to process a black and white image by using the principles of classical black and white drawing.
