women's bodies are not battlefields

  • Prize
    Bronze in Press/Other
  • Photographer
    Caglar Gezer, Switzerland

Political confrontations and cultural clashes have become an
integral part of daily life in Turkey, and way too often, the
battleground is women’s bodies. Men of all political persuasions
feel free to treat women as an object and to lecture them on how
to dress and how to live. This work is a critic on societies
positioning the believes on top of fundamental freedoms.

Caglar Gezer was born in Istanbul. As a non-professional self -taught photographer, his humanistic approach to life is reflected in his black and white photographs, providing an unparalleled aesthetic viewpoint. The goal of his each project is to develop a body of image which allows him to transfer a visual knowledge of a specific human social event to the viewer.
