Colors of dance

  • Prize
    Gold in Press/Performing Arts
  • Photographer
    Yingxi "Michael" Shi, China
  • Studio
    Omnicom

The photos are selected from my "Colors of Dance" Project, an
ongoing photographic journey, which showcases dancers of
various genres in off-stage environments including nature, urban
streets and historic sites. With one photograph, I seek to express:
dance as art, fashion design, color variance, beautiful architecture
and an expression of freedom.

Yingxi “Michael” Shi, an international award winning photographer, has an uncommon journey in photography. With an MBA and statistics master degree, he currently works with the global advertising group Omnicom in the New York headquarters. However the business world job does not satisfy his thirst for creating art. Entirely self-taught as a photographer since middle school, his passion has evolved into many works that demonstrate a clean, colorful, character-driven narrative. His new project, “Colors of Dance”, has received critical acclaim from within both the dance and photography world. He has won numerous international awards including IPA, PX3, FAPA, MIFA, and exhibited his work in US, China and Europe.
