Franco Ferro, the artistic and portrait photographer from Catania, was born in 1964. His work has been published in a number of well known magazines in the sector and he has taken part in gallery shows and competitions, receiving awards and international recognition. In 1996, he represented the FIAF at the FIAP World Biennal in Turkey, winning the A.F.I (Italian Photography Artist) award.
Franco began exhibiting his personal work in 1990 when he showed his first collection "Dynamic Distortions" at the Greg photo gallery in Catania, Sicily. On the May 1994, the "Portfolio club" in Misterbianco (Catania) hosted his personal collection
In October 1996, he exhibited his collection "Il pesce fuor d'acqua" at the Vertigo gallery, (Catania). Then in 2000 at the Dante gallery in Palermo, he exhibited his work called "dynamic sensations". In January 2001, the "Gente di Fotografia" magazine published his portfolio titled "Passi" and later that same year, his book of the same title was published by Gente di Fotografia publishing and became part of the "Young Italian Authors" archive of the Italian Photography Foundation. Still in 2001, "Passi" was exhibited at the Amantes Art Gallery in Turin. In April of that year "Il Fotoamatore", published "Passi" which was under the curator Fausto Raschiatore. And in August 2001, Franco took part in the International "ARTEXPO" in Bari.
In 2006 and 2007, Franco was awarded the gold medal for portraits at the Trierenberg Super Circuit in Austria. Then in Feburary 2009 "Ritratti" was exhibited at the Centre of Sikanie Visual Arts in Catania (Franco is a founding member) followed by "Trees" in April. In June of 2009, Franco was invited as Master of Photography to the 16th edition of the Etna photo meeting.
Again as master of photography, he gave a course on photography at the Centre of Sikanie Visual Arts in Catania in the spring of 2011. In May 2012, " fluctuations conceptual " was exhibited, under the curator Fausto Raschiatore, at the Valverde FIAF Art Gallery, of the "Le Gru" photography group. In June 2012, he was again invited as master of portraits to the 18th edition of the Etna photo meeting. In September 2012 his "Fluttuazioni Concettuali" received an honourable mention the Fine Arts category at the IPA Awards in the USA. In November of this year, Franco will participate in the photographic collection of the PIENO FORMATO Limited Editions titled "Zerouno" at the Broadbeck foundation ( Catania).
In December 2012 he took part in a collection " One of six" at the Metropole Arts club in Taormina.
In May 2013 with another 10 artists, he represented the "Luigi Ghirri" gallery at the international exhibition of European Photography in Reggio Emilia, Italy.

In 2001 Franco Ferro was included in the archive "Young Italian Authors" at the Italian Photography Foundation in Turin. In April 2001 the editor Fausto Raschiatore published on the magazine "Il Fotoamatore" Franco Ferro's work "PASSI", always in the same year he participated at the international "ARTEXPO" in Bari. In 2006 and 2007 Franco Ferro was awarded with the Golden Medal in Portrait Category at the Trierenberg Super Circuit (Austria).
