"War Lanscapes" is a Photobook (22 x 30,5 cm, hardcover, top quality
printing, 108 pages) with about 100 photos in B/W taken by me in
more than 15 years of reporting in conflict areas. Preface by a famous
jornalist and writer Ettore Mo. Texts in English and Italian.
My basic idea is not to publish emotional or news photos of some war,
but landscapes of ruins, battlefields, roads, barriers, cimiteries, the
long term results of all wars.

I took a lot of photos in 15 years of journalistic work in conflict zones,
images full of people, of pain, of screams, of din. These are dramatic
shots that arouse strong emotions. In this book I chose photographs
of landscape, almost devoid of the human element, where prevails the
result of human action and silence reigns. I hope this is an opportunity
to focus our atteniton, beyond the news of the bombing, the advances
and defeats, on what is the war.

Alfredo Macchi was born on June the 25 th 1967 in Sorengo, Lugano (Switzerland). He lives in Rome and is an award-winning foreign correspondent for the Italian Television Group Mediaset.
