Burma is a a buddhist country at 90 per cent and this religion has a central role into society.
In 2007, a series of anti-government protests started in Burma. The monks have been allowed to be politically active by participating to the peaceful demonstration. This was their own way to enhence international attention on the political issues of the country and demonstrating that they are a political peaceful force.
Those protests had been allowed to proceed until a renewed government took power on September 26, 2007.
This double role of religion keepers and of political activists exemplificates the contrasts of Burma.
I visited some monasteries and observed the daily life of these monks and novices.
Documenting thier daily life has a striking effect, as thier religious role is very deep and yet generated, the change that is operating in Burma.
