The hidden Armenians present themselves in the outside world as Muslims.
More and more Armenians in Turkey identify with their heritage. They do not want to hide
their identity anymore. Since the last couple of years an increasing number of Armenians
is returning to their roots.
They have Muslim names, go to the mosque and fast during Ramadan. They do not dare to go
to church, because that would reveal their identity.
There are hundreds of thousands of hidden Armenians in Turkey. If we count their
grandparents, it would be more than one million.
