The picture of the two sisters was taken at Ngadirejo village in the
district of Probolinggo, East Java which lies close to the Tengger
caldera. The shot was taken inside their home with available light
from the window as they relies on natural light during the day and
oil lamps during the night. They worked as farmers and plant
mainly tomatoes and onions. Despite the eruption of Bromo in
2011 which devastated their village, killing almost all vegetations
and crops alike and the disruption of water supplies, they are
very resilient, full of optimism and determination to carry on with
their lives.
