DEAR GIUSEPPE

"Dear Giuseppe" is a tribute to the memory of my grandfather, through photos from the period of World War II, with the Cross of Merit which is still on display in his living room. And then the desk with his old Olivetti where he also wrote love poems
After the war, he flight in the United States to study and there he obtained two degrees.
When he came back in Italy he studied to become a lawyer. When he welcomed the guests in his study he always kept the door closed.
And many times I stared at his shape from behind the glass.
His son Augustus, then my uncle, always gives me the same impression
when he passes behind that door.
It's a bit like he's here again, with me.
He has always been for me an important figure. This work is dedicated to him and it's a simple recognition: the pride of a nephew for his family hero....simply my Grandpa, dear Giuseppe

Born in Palermo in 1974, I have been having a natural flair for the shot since he was 10, using a Polaroid 1000 model borrowed from my brother. A few years later the first experiments in street photography gave way to the glossy world of glamour. The real revolution begins owning a Kodak's bridge camera with a 24x zoom which trained my eye to look for the hidden details of things, as in an imaginary game in which there is always something hidden from reality that may tickle the wonder of surprise.
