In Cambodia, the mortality rate of neonates (babies under 28 days old) stands at 1 out of 33. According to the Cambodia Demographic and Health Survey (2010), in the last decade there has been a 200% improvement in the post-neonatal mortality rate but only a 37% improvement in neonatal mortality rate. On top of that, the neonatal mortality rate is three times higher in rural areas as compared to urban centers. This remains one of the largest health problems facing Cambodia.
