These photos were taken in Cairo, Egypt just 3 weeks prior to the revolution that took place in January 2011. As I traveled through Cairo, the sense of despair and hopelessness about the future were deeply felt among its people. The great disparity between Egypt's glorious past and stagnant present, as well as the widening gap between the rich and poor, were ominously present.
Joanne was born in Taiwan, has lived in different parts of the world since a very young age. She inspires to become a professional photographer, traveling around the world, taking real-life photos that capture raw emotions and showcase cultural differences.
