Pietro and his mother

Pietro,as his mother points out in Spanish, is 'minusvalido',or,in English, disabled. Gloria has sacrificed her career as a soprano to look after him and these images show them at their home in Sydney. Gloria believes Pietro is happy, however, she is aware that life is somewhat difficult for him. More difficult, she says, than it would have been if he could for example read and write. There is mutual love and respect and they worry for each other wellbeing. Gloria says that when she will not be able to look after Pietro he will inevitably go in a nursing home type facility and Gloria is sure that, there, he will cease to be an individual and will become just a 'resident'. Gloria is now well over 70 years old and worries about Pietro and his life without her.
