ACCIDENT-ALLY

For the series presented here: ACCIDENT-ALY, I travelled to Iceland as I was concerned by the economical crash the country had suffered resulting in the greatest migration from Iceland since 1887. Many things inspired me during my time there but the fact that countless locals were deliberately crashing their cars in order to pocket the insurance money was simply devastating. Throughout the island you can find metal scrap yards, and in them, the ghosts of an Iceland that once was.
ACCIDENT-ALLY speaks of the pain, the loss, the solitude of a people still mourning, not knowing what to do next.

Using a tiny point-and-shoot camera, Alec Von Bargen seeks to capture the realities of our world one moment at a time. Each panel of digital photographs represents a collection of moments, brief glimpses into our most solitary journeys and the ways these paths inevitably intersect with the outer world.
