Helmand Province, Afghanistan - June 13, 2010: US Navy Corpsmen from the 1st Battalion 2nd Marines treat a young boy after an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) detonated near the town of Kenjake Sofla, killing both of his parents and severely wounding him. The boy eventually died from his wounds.

Philip Cheung (b.1979) is a photographer currently based
in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Originally from Toronto, Canada,
Philip relocated to the Middle East in 2007 and has worked extensively
in the region on commissioned and self-initiated projects.

In 2010 Philip was selected as an emerging photographer by
the Magenta Foundation and was chosen to exhibit his work at
the 2nd Lumix Festival for Young Photojournalism in Hanover,
Germany. He was also awarded by Communication Arts,
Photo District News and American Photo 26.
