My images visualise the relationship between thoughts, the senses and the environment creating a betwixt space. These are manifested in vivid isolated scenes that may inspire inner reflection and a deeper contemplation of the environment. The images carry with them personal stories and inherent experiences that are instinctive and can resonate in the viewer. In this typical English woodland setting, an unreal atmosphere induces a dream-like state.
The experience is solitary, raw and elemental and reaches deep within the psyche. From a new perspective I look back at my childhood imagination, fears and fantasies and re-explore the ancient wood. My work takes inspiration from my youth watching cinematography and animation of the late 70s, 80s and 90s and many of the landscape masters past and present.
