The Hindu festival of Holi brings out the wildest, the loudest, and the most colorful celebration imaginable in India or anywhere else. Crowds fill the streets as bightly colored powder and water fill the air.

Holi, also called the Festival of Colors, is celebrated with much enthusiasm on the full moon day in the month of Phalgun, which usually corresponds to the month of March. It marks the arrival of spring and the bright colors represent energy, life, and joy.

The festival is also associated with the immortal love of Krishna and Radha, so in Mathura, the birth place of Lord Krishna, this day is also celebrated with a special puja, or prayer, the traditional custom of worshipping Lord Krishna, and an even greater exuberance.

Dima Gavrysh is Ukrainian-born New York City-based photographer.

Dima started his career in the mid-90's in Kiev, Ukraine. In the past 10 years, he has worked with major news agencies such as Associated Press, EPA and Bloomberg News.
