The work presents an alternative portrayal of childhood in which I illustrate the very strange relationship children have to the world and reality where fact and fiction overlap and blur. This work was made with my six year old daughter over a period of one year. These self-meditations record short, momentary performances in which an otherworldly self-absorption takes place. The child?s skewed, clownish behaviour communicates the experience of growing up and shows how children make sense of the world around them.
