The first image is all silence. Rusted rides face the sea, their colours fading beneath a grey Welsh sky. For 107 years, Coney Beach held the laughter of generations, from the Miners' Fortnight tradition begun in 1918 to countless family summers by the shore. Closed in October 2025 and awaiting demolition, these derelict buildings become portraits of absence. The sea remembers what the steel cannot, echoes of joy, carried forever on the tide. Each photograph becomes a quiet elegy, where peeling paint and abandoned paths hold the ghosts of summers that shaped families for more than a century.

UK born Sarah Louise Ramsay began her career in 1990s London, assisting on location and in studios before award winning personal projects led to global advertising commissions. Her photography seeks a deep connection between viewer and subject, capturing real issues and lived experiences with authenticity and precision. Known for fearless shoots in extreme environments, her work is rigorously researched and socially grounded. She was nominated for the Prix Pictet in 2025 and has exhibited at the Royal Academy of Arts, Head On Photo Festival, and in Paris and Venice.
