Ine, a historic fishing village in northern Kyoto, Japan is renowned for its traditional Funaya-wooden boathouses built directly over the water. This winter, heavy snowfall blanketed the village for the first time in a decade, reviving a rare, poetic scene from the past. As night fell, warm lights from the homes reflected softly upon the calm bay. Capturing more than just a rare weather event, this photograph recalls an era when deep winters were a familiar part of life, returning now as a cherished memory.
