I captured this pre-sunrise image of Marie-Elisabeth-Lüders-Haus, which is part of Berlin's government quarter along the Spree River. On arrival at the location I was greeted by perfect conditions with no wind resulting in the Spree being totally still.

I was immediately drawn to the symmetry between the structure and reflection which created a contemplative, almost meditative composition. This influenced the title of the image which invites the viewer to pause and reflect, both literally and figuratively on modern architecture's dialogue with light, water, and time.

Ultimately, my photography is about interpretation rather than documentation. I am less concerned with recording a structure exactly as it appears and more interested in conveying how it feels.
