Beyond the Hunt follows Ardakh, a Kazakh eagle hunter in western Mongolia, beyond the familiar image of the hunt itself. Over five days in Bayan-Ölgii, I documented the rhythms of his daily life: caring for horses, sharing meals, preparing equipment, and living with family, before the journey into the Altai Mountains.
By focusing on ordinary moments rather than spectacle, the series presents Ardakh not only as an eagle hunter, but as a father, husband, horseman, and steward of a living tradition.
