A conceptual portrait series exploring the emotional complexity of adolescence. While the hoodie remains the same, each portrait reveals a different emotional state, exposing an inner world hidden beneath a constant exterior. Inspired by one teenager yet reflecting an entire generation, the series explores identity, vulnerability, and resilience. The hoodie becomes a source of comfort, a shield, and a symbol of identity, inviting viewers to look beyond appearances and discover what often remains unseen.

Rie-Anne van Achthoven is a Dutch fine art and portrait photographer based in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands. After graduating as a professional photographer in 2026, she dedicated herself to creating images that reveal what often remains unseen.

Through conceptual photography and intimate portraiture, her work explores themes of identity, vulnerability, love, and the passage of time. Rather than simply documenting appearances, she seeks to capture the emotions and connections that lie beneath the surface.
