This photograph of a Roma woman is part of my long-term project on the Roma people living in camps on the outskirts of the city of Rome.The project began in 1999 and I continue it today, photographing entire generations. It unfolds both in the old refugee camps, where people lived in extreme conditions, without water or electricity, and in the new, legally authorized camps, where different ethnic and religious groups coexist.

Pietro Di Giambattista is a Documentary Photographer based in Rome (Italy). He is represented by the Photojournalistic Agency Graffiti Press.

Awards Third prize in the Portraits category at the 2002 World Prtess Photo.
Always in 2002 he won the 7th International photograph exhibition of Photography in Solighetto (Treviso).He has received several honorable mentions in several competitions, was a finalist in the 2016 Photographers Forum Magazine's, first place in the 2016 ND AWARDS in the category Editorial - Daily Life. In 2017 he won the third place at the Siena International Photography Award in the Monochrome category. Also in 2017 he was a finalist and had the honorable mention at the Photographer's Forum and at the Monochrome Award. In 2018 he obtained the 1ST PLACE - BLACK & WHITE PHOTOJOURNALISM PHOTO OF THE YEAR 2018 and at the same competition the honorable mention in the Photojournalism series category with the project "We are Gypsies". he was a finalist and honorable mention at the Photographer's Forum 2018. He obtained three Honorable Mention at the ND Awards an a Remarcble Artwork at the Sipa Award.in 2019 he obtained the silver in the Portfolio category at the Moscov International Photography Awards. Second place at the Monovision Awards in the Photojournalism category and second place at the Fine Art Photo awards always in the Photojournalism category.
