Architecture is more than what we see. It shapes how we move, remember and relate to one another. It is the mediation between the world and the mind. These images comprising this book explore the emotional and psychological experience of inhabited spaces, both built and natural, addressing the reciprocal relationship between self and environment. As the human figure merges with rooms, dissolves into light, or becomes absorbed by the landscape, we consider memory embedded in place, and how place, in turn, shapes memory. Spaces are active participants in the shaping of human identity.
