The series was featured by CNN (article: "Capturing the forgotten towns of America's Deep South"). In the rural areas – far away from the boomtown Atlanta – the impact of the economic crisis is highly perceptible. The continuous price decline for cotton has changed the whole region dramatically. Today in most of these country towns shops were closed, stores and warehouses are abandoned. Solely some pawn shops, junk-shops and few gun-shops seem to overcome the financial crisis. What – at first sight – appears to be a small town-idyll is on closer inspection the relict of the "Good Old South".
