This image weaves documentary reality with AI-generated imagination. The foundation holds a photograph from 2016, capturing the collapse of a mixed-use building during the Kaohsiung Meinong earthquake—the single deadliest building collapse in Taiwan’s history. Above it, 2026 emerges, where life quietly returns, rising from memory rather than replacing it. At the highest layer, light and drifting clouds suggest a presence beyond loss, where those once gone continue in unseen ways. Across time, absence and renewal coexist, and life endures.
