The Last Stand reflects on resilience in the face of time, understood not as heroism or recognised value, but as a condition of existence itself: to continue being despite vulnerability, solitude, and outward insignificance. The Polaroid process is central to the work: unpredictable colour shifts loosen the image from fixed time and place, while the tactile surface of the emulsion transfer moves it from document to trace. The tree becomes not a description of nature, but a timeless statement of enduring presence.

Sergiy Antonenko is a fine-art photographer based in A Coruña, Spain. His practice explores memory, fragility, resilience and transformation through remote landscapes, water, ice and experimental photographic processes. Working with digital photography and instant images transformed through hand processes, he creates atmospheric series that move between observation and abstraction. His work has received international recognition, including 1st Place at the Fine Art Photography Awards and a PX3 Bronze.
