I visited Switzerland this winter expecting deep, white snow, but the weather was surprisingly warm. Because it barely snowed, dark, rough rocks poked through the melting ice and snow. The mix of clear skies and low fog gave the landscape a totally unexpected look. Shooting these scenes in black and white just felt right—it really brought out a beautiful balance between the mountains and the snow.
