Shezidao residents have a tradition called “Night Procession of Gods of the Earth” for over a hundred years. They put firecrackers on palanquins which have gods in them, spreading blessings by bombing palanquins. Shirtless young men who wear bamboo hats and shorts are called ”Shezidao warriors”, they shuttle around Shezidao carrying palanquins, stop by places where owners prepare red envelopes and firecrackers, and Shao-Xun is one of them. Having joined the tradition for over ten years, Shao-Xun said that as long as he follows the flame, he will not be afraid.
