The image shows a figure absorbed in painting, detached from the viewer, positioned low and close to the ground. The body is present not as spectacle, but as a necessary instrument. I deliberately avoided eye contact to resist traditional portrait conventions and the expectation of exchange between subject and viewer. Instead, attention is directed toward the act itself: the tension between control and vulnerability that accompanies making. This work is part of a broader exploration of creation as a bodily act — one that involves repetition, vulnerability, and discomfort.
