“Exercises for Disappearing”

The “Exercises for Disappearing” began as short writings that performer Amalia Franco started composing in 2018, creating a small scrapbook of disparate childhood thoughts on existence and non-existence. Disappearance is understood as movement to the surface. It is on the surface that the subject disappears and incorporeal events emerge, things, extra-being, non-existences, affections. Practicing disappearance means practicing the expression of the work. “What kind of matter is it that brings us close to non-existence? I met Amalia in the 2025, and I asked her to let me portray her Exercises.
