Canary Wharf – a mini metropolis and remarkable feat of construction. For six years Mike Curry has studied its ever-changing architecture, not by re-presenting the towers, but by photographing their reflections in the surrounding water. Abstracted:Architecture explores how glass, steel and sky dissolve into liquid patterns. Using in-camera multiple exposures and blending modes, he creates calm, meditative images that contrast with the city’s intensity, echoing the patient observation and quiet rhythm of the docklands themselves, inviting viewers to pause, look closer and untangle the scene.

Mike Curry’s photography finds order—and quiet wonder—in the shifting surfaces of the city. Best known for his long-running Fleeting Reflections series, he translates the architecture of Canary Wharf into graphic, abstract images made in-camera, without compositing. His photographs are held in collections worldwide, have been exhibited in London galleries and collected in two books, Fleeting Reflections (2016) and Fleeting Reflections II (2023, foreword by David Ward).
